How GiftSpin Works
GiftSpin is a small, focused tool: you describe a person, we hand the description to a language model, and we return three concrete gift ideas you can shop on Temu in one click. This page explains exactly what happens at each step and how to get the best results.
1. The inputs
The form collects six fields: who the gift is for, their gender, age range, the occasion, interests, and your budget. None of these are required to be the recipient's real name โ "my dad", "best friend", or "the new neighbour" all work fine. The more specific the interests field is, the better the output gets. "Reads sci-fi and bakes sourdough" beats "books and food" every time.
2. The model
We send a structured prompt to Anthropic's Claude model, asking for exactly three gift ideas with a short rationale and a Temu search term per idea. We don't store the prompt, the response, or any of the form data โ every spin is independent.
3. The output
Each suggestion comes back with a category, a short description, and a search query that we turn into a Temu link with our affiliate identifier attached. Clicking "Shop on Temu" takes you straight to search results on Temu's site โ we never see what you click or whether you buy. We earn a commission only on qualifying purchases.
4. Getting better suggestions
- Be specific about interests. "Cycling, espresso, lo-fi music" gives a much sharper result than "music and coffee".
- Use a real budget number. "$25" produces tighter ideas than "any budget".
- Spin twice. The model intentionally varies between runs โ the second set is almost never the same as the first.
- Don't trust the suggestion blindly. Treat the output as a shortlist to research, not a final answer. Click through, compare, decide.
5. What we don't do
We don't store form data. We don't build a recipient profile. We don't email anyone. We don't sell the inputs to anyone. The site runs ads through Google AdSense and earns affiliate revenue from Temu โ that's the whole business model.
